Here’s an interesting article from a Starbucks barista (who can’t write well, which is par for the site on which the article is). If you have strong feelings about Starbucks and/or coffee, read it: Confessions Of A Starbucks Barista.

I do not understand what is so great or what makes Starbucks so great? Not everyone likes coffee, not everyone likes the smell of coffee. Starbucks & other coffee houses sell way over priced coffee. If people want coffee, why don’t they get it from home & take it to work or wherever they go?
I think very few people would argue Starbucks is great.
As for your other points:
Because they want to?
Do you buy anything? Why?
